Vintage woman’s Nike embroidered waffle racer shoes circa 2000. They have never been worn and I am the original order. I do not have the box. I found them when cleaning out my parent’s house. They are brown, cream and aqua. The brown and aqua are suede. The cream has cream embroidery and seem to be canvas.
Size woman’s 9.5.
Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The Nike Waffle sneaker has a unique history, originating in the early 1970s when Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman sought to improve running shoes. Inspired by his wife's waffle iron, Bowerman designed a new outsole with waffle-like patterns for better traction and grip. This innovation led to the creation of the Nike Waffle Trainer, which gained popularity among athletes and casual wearers alike. Over time, the Waffle became iconic, influencing sneaker culture and design. Today, Nike continues to release retro-inspired Waffle models, blending classic elements with modern technology, making it a key player in the global sneaker market.
Sneakers are among the hottest growing collecting category, with top auction houses throughout the world, including Sotheby's and Christie's in NYC and London, even getting in on the action, selling sneakers from sports and music icons for 6- and 7-figures.
There is great depth and breadth to the field and other unworn sneakers comparable to yours in age and style typically sell for between $300-500.
