Hi Sandra,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Noritake, founded in 1904 in Japan, is renowned for its fine porcelain and bone china. The company gained global recognition in the early 20th century for producing high-quality tableware with intricate designs and hand-painted details. Noritake pieces often blend Western aesthetics with traditional Japanese craftsmanship, making them highly collectible.
Noritake was one of the most popular names for dinnerware in the mid 20th Century; not only was it handsome and serviceable but it was also comparatively affordable. Increasingly few people today, however, entertain in such a formal way and the market is saturated with services of varying sizes, colors, etc. Because there is less demand than supply, fair-market / auction prices for Noritake porcelain and bone china remain low, typically bringing $4-8 PER PIECE.
However, the pierced sides of this bowl limits its function, which would have been useful as a centerpiece for flowers (with the waterline below the piercings), candy or fruit. It has a fair-market value of $50-75.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Noritake parcel gilt bone china centerpiece bowl
