Noritake Tea Set with Maruki symbol stamp. Set is in very good condition with one only cup having a small chip on its base. Embellished gold design overlay on all pieces.
Hi Lena,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
What you are describing as the sugar bowl looks more like a fruit bowl to me...it's too large to be a waste bowl (for used tea leaves) and is also too large / doesn't have a rim and/or cover to be a sugar bowl.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique 38-piece set of Noritake parcel gilt part dessert service
unidentified pattern, made in Japan, bearing the "Komaru" or "Maruki" backstamp in use from circa 1910, comprising:
12 plates
10 cups & 10 saucers
1 fruit bowl
1 cream pitcher
4 candy dishes
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: inherited
$250-350 for the set*
