Oil on canvas. Carvers and Guilders Frame England. 1 of 2 25”w x 21.5”h
Family purchased.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a pair of 1990s chinese copies after english school country scenes. These copies were most likely made in Dafen, China and sold on pseudo antique fairs or online marketplaces.
The backside shows a fictitious label of a company with no address "carvers & gilders picture makers and restorers England bevelled glass & old frames reguilted (sic!). I assume some "guilt" is involved here, the backside is made to appear old, the wooden board is blackened with potassium permanganate to deceive buyers. Similar modern reproduction paintings are offered in the price range listed above if correctly advertised.
Thanks! I have no recollection of purchasing these, possibly came through a decorator. I thought I should check before giving them away.
