I don't know the origin of this painting. I inherited from my grandmother who lived in New Orleans most her life. I think she had it for a long time so maybe 50 years or more. I can't read the signature.

Hello, this item is an original oil painting on board depicting a romanticized rural cottage landscape with flowering trees, a winding path, and small animal figures, executed in a decorative realist style typical of mid 20th century European and American home décor art. The visible brushwork, palette choices, and textured board support are consistent with commercially produced studio paintings made between the 1940s and 1970s for the interior decoration market rather than fine art gallery distribution. The composition reflects a mass appeal pastoral theme that was widely produced by workshop painters, often unsigned or bearing difficult to identify signatures, and sold through furniture stores, department stores, and regional art dealers.
From a market standpoint, comparable mid century decorative landscape oil paintings of similar size, approximately 17 × 21 inches, typically sell between $75 and $250 USD depending on condition, framing, and visual appeal. The present example retains its original decorative frame, which adds modest resale desirability, though the heavy varnish aging and surface wear visible in the close up images slightly limit value. A realistic current secondary market value would fall in the range of $100 to $180 USD.
