From what I was told this sword was given to my Great Grandfather once he became a Major in the Indian army, not much else I know about it. Has a small push button to unlock form the sheath. Blade - 27" Hilt - 9 3/4" Sheath - 29"
Passed down from my great grandfather, was in India but brought it over to Canada.
Dear Tanraj,
Thank you for the new information and your patience. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.
The presented object appears to be an Imperial Japanese Shin Gunto Ka sword. This type of sword was an official part of the armament of officers of the Imperial Japanese Army in WW II.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 800 to 1.600 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Tanraj,

With kind regards,

I have the same sword from my Grandfather. I have no info on how he obtained it but he was proud of it and always thought it was something special. I’m interested to know more about what you have to say as well
What other information is required? I will do my best to get it to you
