This was my grandmothers or my great grandmothers teddy bear. It’s about 18 “ tall and 9” wide. It has wires and some kind of stuffing (a bit crunchy) I’ve had it since I was little but it was always on display.
My great grandmothers or grandmothers. I’ve had it since I was little. Always displayed never played with.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a cute teddybear. Such vintage soft toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis. This teddy appears to have been loved and cuddled however the fur and paws do not seem to have been worn ny this.
The teddy bears fur has probably been made of mohair and the filling is a kind of sawdust or straw based on the way it feels from your description. The teddy has fairly short limbs, oval chubby feet and no hump on the back - this is typical of the mid 20th century teddy bears. The early teddy bears look like real bears whereas the later ones are more cuddly. I would date your teddy bear to be from the late 1950s-1960s and made in the US, however this is very hard to determine without any labels or marks on the teddy. During the 20th century a lot of companies produced soft toys and in particular teddy bears.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the teddy bear has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the sweet teddybear. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.

Thank you
Your item will be presented for several auction houses, but they tend only to be interested in items worth more than $1000. I would recommend eBay for these kinds of items because of the extended amount of buyers on the platform.
