I have an original clay Gumby model. This model was made for production purposes but did not appear in front of a camera. Art Clokey was the creator of this model. It is in nice condition but does have a blemish (damaged) underneath his mouth on the left side. Gumby does come with the proper paperwork that I received at the time when he was purchased almost 30 years ago. The art gallery also included the case that he stands in now.
Gumby stands approximately 6.5 inches tall and 0.5 inches wide. have
Hi Mike,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I apologize for the delay in responding - I was traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday and was without power when I got home.
Gumby, created by Art Clokey in 1955, was one of the earliest and most influential uses of stop-motion clay animation (claymation) on television. His methods inspired countless animators and filmmakers, influencing modern stop-motion works like Wallace & Gromit, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and contemporary clay-based content.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage clay model of Gumby

CONDITION: With small flaw below his mouth
PROVENANCE: Purchased from FilmArt's Cartoon World in 1996 for $550

Hi Mike,
This has probably doubled in value since you purchased it in the mid 1990s. There's not going to be much difference in fair market value between ones made at different times in the 1980s or even very early 1990s; it would be quite a bit higher if made in the 1950s or early 60s.
Thanks,
Delia
Hi there. I know this Gumby is not from the fifty's because his look was much different. Red eyes than, bump on head much different, no thumbs, ect... he's had several changes throughout the years. The look that mine has was produced and started in the mid late 1987. When he was actually made I have no idea. Gumby Fandom . com the evolution changes can be seen there. Perhaps you could get with the gallery I had purchased it from for more info. Thank you, Mike Adams
