This original pastel painting was made by myself, Mark Baker, in January 2026. I've been painting for over 20 years and am a member of the Pastel Society of Colorado (PSC). I have displayed my art in numerous galleries and have won PSC painting awards. This depicts a forest landscape scene from the Colorado mountains. It was painted with Terry Ludwig, Schmenke and Sennelier soft pastels (not oil pastels) on 140 pound archival watercolor paper float-mounted on black foamcore. This art is in perfect/new condition and includes a professionally framed 'plein aire' wood frame, museum glass, art spacers and all mounting hardware ready for immediate hanging. Please note this art is framed and ready to hang, while some other PSC members art is sold not framed for over $2,000. Hello, this item is a contemporary original soft pastel landscape depicting a forest road scene in the Colorado mountains, signed “MB” and identified as the work of Mark Baker, an active member of the Pastel Society of Colorado. The execution shows typical professional plein air pastel technique, including layered soft pastel application, atmospheric perspective, and controlled color blending. The materials described, professional grade soft pastels on archival watercolor paper, float mounting, and museum glass framing, are consistent with mid to upper tier contemporary pastel practice rather than amateur hobby production.
From a market standpoint, contemporary regional pastel artists with society memberships and exhibition histories typically sell works of this size in the range of $500 to $1,200 USD depending on gallery representation, sales record, and collector demand.
