Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Arabic six-string oud
Middle Eastern, Probably 19th Century
The conventional pear-form spruce body with ivory or horn stringed edging, fretted fingerboard, squared pegbox, centering a pierced medallion with octagonal-pointed border, rosewood frog with ivory or bone pegs.
length: 37 inches; width: 12 inches; depth: 4-1/2 inches
CONDITION: Minor scratches commensurate with age and use; client advises the strings may be later replacements.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
