Painting on cloth, 18" width by 26" height
Mother-in-law
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a tibetan Thangka Avalokiteshvara of possibly first half 20th century. Without the silk mounting it is not possible to be sure about the date of production. The colors appear to be natural, which cound indicate that the Thangka has some age.
The estimate is based on similar sold at auction recently. "Asking Prices" in the trade can be higher and vary. Any Information on the provenance, when and where collected, could be helpful to increase the value.
Thank you Klaus! Unfortunately, I don't have any idea of the provenance. It was in my mother-in-laws house as we were cleaning it out. No one has any idea where it came from. Nora
