Unfinished painting ( study for still life)
13”x10
Dear Yassine,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a mixed media on paper study for a series of screenprints produced by Tom Wesselmann (American, 1931-2004) in the late 1990s. The study measures approximately 13 x 10 in. and has been attributed to the Wesselmann due to the presence of a signature in the bottom right corner of the composition and an inscription, a stamp and a label on the verso. This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
The presented object bears some resemblance to the resulting screenprint series, some examples include:

However, the execution is low-quality and there are a number of concerning inconsistencies found in the labels, inscriptions and stamps on the verso of the piece. Therefore, the unfortunate conclusion from this investigation is that the work of art presented is most likely a forgery, which holds no market value.
