The painting of Queen Anne Boleyn was inherited (along with a number of European miniatures), in the 1970s and has never been appraised by the current owners. The former owners acquired the art in the late 1800s and part of the Henry Stimson family who served as Sec. of War under President Warren Taft in WWI. It was reported the artifacts were acquired on multiple trips to Europe in the late 1800s. The painter is unknown and the work done on wood indicates a time frame that could be in the early 1800s or even an earlier time period. The glass cover and frame was used in the 1940s when the grouping of paintings was on loan with the San Diego Fine Arts Museum.
