Pair of cloth covered lamps resembling roman pillars. The top pieces lift off. Single bulb each one. The only sticker is quality control. I see no other marks.
13" x 13 1/2" top, approx 16" bottom, 78" tall.
Hello!
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I presume that the scrolled tops - similar to Greek Ionic column capitals - is made of lightweight and painted or parcel gilt wood (otherwise they'd be too heavy).
I suspect they were made in the 1930s or 1940s; I've found other lamps of shorter height and also made of fabric that don't have capital tops, which I think elevates the look of these lamps. While licensed retailers have marked those in the mid four figures, if sold "as is", I would not be surprised if this pair sold at auction for between $200 and $300.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A pair of vintage Hollywood Regency style fabric and painted wood columnar lamps
unattributed maker, American or European
Each surrounded by scrolled Ionic-type capitals on fabric-lined frames with molded circular bases, electrified.
Each 78 inches tall; diameter: 16 inches at the base.
CONDITION: These appear to be in good cosmetic condition
PROVENANCE: unknown
$200-300 for the pair*
