Dear Yvette,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This pearl necklace looks to be in wonderful, pristine condition. Pearls can easily be damaged by perfume and daily wear, as they are such soft 'stones', so it's lovely to see the lustre of them appears to be very healthy and shiny. From the shape of them, I would say they are freshwater cultured pearls, however, this is something that would need to be inspected first hand. With the clasp being 14k gold, this is a good indicator that the pearls are a good quality.
At the moment, the market for small cultured has dipped slightly as the demand for natural pearls has rocketed. A fair market estimation for this pearl necklace is around 180 - 220 GBP. This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail asking prices can be higher and may vary.
I believe this lovely necklace piece would easily achieve within the estimate provided, however, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the piece.
Do let me know if you have any additional questions. Many thanks!
