Persian Carpet Soft plush Not sure what else to say
24-1/2” X. 43-1/2” including fringe 1/2” thick
Hi David,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a very finely woven silk Kashan carpet, denoted by the medallion in the center with floral patterns radiating outward, a rich reddish-rust (terracotta) background with navy and cream accents, a navy blue border with repeating floral rosettes and vine motifs, and the pale ivory corners with intricate arabesques.
These small silk carpets can command higher prices than their larger counterparts because they are more portable and can "fit" into a greater variety of spaces more easily. At auction, I would expect this to sell for between $800 and $1200, despite it not have much comparative age.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Persian silk Kashan prayer rug
mid-late 20th Century
With a red-rust ground overall, centering a deep navy medallion on a foliate-populated ground, ivory arabesque spandrels, navy border with stylized foliate motifs, cream-colored selvedges.

CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition; value assumes no stains, odors, tears or repairs.
