It’s signed by Picasso. When it was passed to us we don’t know a lot about the material as it’s still in the frame we received it in. Looks to be a thicker paper with maybe charcoal?

Hi Yvette,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
There is a much greater probability that this is a print - and of comparatively modest value, less than $1,000 - rather than a sketch, which would require examination out of the frame for verification and authentication but if it turned out to be a charcoal and ink sketch, it would be quite valuable, with his recent sketches selling at major auction houses in New York City and London (such as Christie's and Sotheby's) for high five or six-figures. If you'd like to know more about Mearto's authentication services, please see https://authenticate-art.com/.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

Hi Yvette,
I would suggest you contact an auction house in Los Angeles (Bonhams, Abell) or one in San Diego (I'm not familiar with any there) and have them come and look at this, which most will do for free. They can look closely at this in person and determine if a print or painting. They can also advise on whether or not to take this out of the frame.
Does that help? Please let me know if you have additional questions...

Hello! Thank you for this info! Can you tell me more about how we can further investigate? Based on the age and the finger smudges we’re curious to know for sure if it’s a print. Do you recommend removing from frame?
