Framed lithograph 288/1200 of Henri Matisse "Poemes de'Orleans: Fleur de'Lys #90, 1950, initialed by artist.
Acquired from Masterworks, The Institute for Works on paper as part of auction to support Angel Light Academy
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an illustration from "Les Poèmes de Charles d'Orleans", a lithograph printed by Mourlot and numbered in the print. I don´t see a monogram, which in fact would be surprising. The estimate is based on similar offered or sold at auction. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
The estimate is based on auction results. The certificate which is attached to the print is somewhat misleading. This edition by Tériade is limited to 1200 copies plus 30 copies hors commerce. The frontispiece lithograph ( the first next to the cover) is signed and numbered by Matisse in the stone, and the edition as a whole is signed by Matisse with pencil . The book contains approximately one hundred color lithographs. The whole set currently sells for 3000 - 4000 USD. We are here to help, So for your next purchase you might consider to ask us beforehand. And a certificate should have the full address and name of the company.
Thanks. Lesson learned.
By monogram do you mean the artists' initials? I didn't see that either but it says it on the authenticity document. The appraisal is disappointing as i paid $2250.00 for it back in 2005 with their appraisal coming in at $4500.00.
