Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, this is a partial set of Noritake China including 6 dessert plates, 6 teacups and saucers, a teapot and a creamer.

Condition of the set is decent as most pieces have no damage visible in the photographs. However, the creamer has lost some of the gold gilding around the edge of the foot, the top rim, and the handle. One dessert plate has two small chips along the rim. Closer inspection of each piece would be necessary to accurately assess the condition.

The backmark on the tea pot dates the product to 1953-54. Prior to this year, the mark would have had the letter M in the center of the laurel wreath (the M is from Morimura - the last name of the brothers who started the company). And, after 1954, an encircled R would be included on the back mark beneath the ribbon and above the word Japan. This pattern, known only as #666, was sold to US servicemen stationed in Japan and was available from 1953-1961.

Currently, the market for a partial set of midcentury mass produced china is soft, and an auction estimate for this collection would be $25 to $50. However, asking prices can be higher, and if sold individually (as replacement pieces) the pieces in this set could bring more while taking longer to sell.
