Shown standing next to a piece of natural rubber (?). The style of the frame and the execution of the photo itself is comparable to last quarter 19th century photographs. In some Asian countries traditional techniques were used for a much longer period of time, due to lack of money or access to modern technologies. One can assume that the photo was taken by a photographer in Indonesia or Thailand. The estimate is based on auction results for similar photographs of that era.
