Hi Laurie,
I've looked at literally hundreds, if not thousands, of Pre-Columbian pottery pieces in my 25+ years as an antiques appraiser and over time, you come to recognize subtle things, like the way the decoration was applied, the shaping of the vessels, the "condition" and what it looks like if it's truly old vs just "made to look" old.
If you want to sell this, just mark the box "for sale" and it will be listed on our public marketplace.
Let us know if we can be of any additional help.
Delia
I've updated the asking price on this, Laurie, you should be good to go.
Thanks, Delia. So it is authentic? I wasn't clear.
Have a great day...you have a good service here.
Laurie
It's old - late 19th/early 20th Century, but not 500-600 years it would need to be to be truly "Pre-Columbian." Very few artifacts survive that are that old, and there is a market for early reproductions.
Always happy to help!
Thank you for the appraisal. How do you determine its authenticity? A dear family friend who lives in Colombia gifted it to my father so I assume it is but how do we know for certain? And if I wish to sell?
