Print of MRS BEAUFOY
Auction estate sale
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an older reproduction print after a photograph by Braun, Clement & Cie after a painting by Thomas Gainsborough titled "Mrs. Beuafoy". The painting once was in the possession of Alfred de Rothschild. The photographic studio of Adolphe Braun et Cie was founded in 1876, later Louis Pierson and Léon Clément joined the company and in 1889 the name was changed to " Braun, Clément et Cie". In 1910 the name was changed again. The reproduction print can therefore be dated to the years between 1889 and 1910. The original portrait of Elizabeth Jenks Beaufoy later Elizabeth Pycrofteth from 1780 is now in The Huntington Library Art Collections. The estimate is based on similar framed reproduction prints offered or sold at auction.
