I have this, what i assume is a modern print attached to a older paper with what looks to be something written in Italian or Latin
I want to know what the print is of and if it does have a connection to the mentioned painters.
Hello Yaroslav,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be an engraving by Federico Zuccaro (Italian, circa 1543 - 1609) depicitng a nativity scene. It is important to not that many restrike or reprints were published after Zuccaro's passing. Restrikes are prints published from the original plate while reprints are basically reproductions. Further, the print presented here seems to have been trimmed and laid on backing paper with stamped number (possible page numbers). This leads to the assumption the print may be a reprint and placed on paper to be included in a folio.
Further examination of the print in person and to the verso may clear some things up regarding the authenticity and age of the print. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of comparable engravings published by Zuccaro. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
