Carved from very hard and heavy stone, granite is my guess, measuring 34 cm tall. I was told this piece was found in the 1960s in the valley of the kings, and when I asked of the estimated date of creation I was told Ramses era was the sellers best guess. I was assured a refund if this statue is proven to be a reproduction so I hope that you can confidently asses the authenticity of this piece via the pictures I provide! Thank you kindly for your time!
Ebay seller out of Luxor Egypt who claimed the piece came from their family's personal Collection, and that this piece was discovered in the 60s in the Valley Of Kings.
Dear Elijah,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a modern statue imitating Horus statues of the Egyptian art of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. This piece was made out of greenish stone and has a height of 34 cm. The carved in decors and hieroglyphs shown traces of fresh workmanship and the depiction of the hawk head of the god Horus does not fit stylistically.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 50 to 100 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
