Early 1800s double barrel shotgun by Richard Hollis, London, England. Initials and last name of owner, HLDLewis, hammered into stock. H.L. Daingerfield Lewis (1841-1893) was the son of Lorenzo Lewis (1803-1847) whose great grandmother was Martha Washington. Given the dates, it seems likely that the gun's original owner was Lorenzo, who passed it on to his son. The gun has been lightly restored and appears to be in excellent condition.
Length 47" , barrel length 30.5"
The gun has been passed down through the family (current owner is direct descendent of Lorenzo Lewis). It has never been exhibited.
