What does this mean?

Hi Laura,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

Rockford Republic Furniture Company was a prominent American furniture manufacturer based in Rockford, Illinois, active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Rockford was a major hub for furniture manufacturing, often called the “Grand Rapids of the Midwest.” Rockford Republic Furniture Co. was one of many firms contributing to the city’s reputation, alongside others like Rockford Chair & Furniture Co. and Hanson.

This cabinet replicates those made during the Italian Renaissance, at a time in American design that looked to previous historical precedents so you have Classical Revival, Gothic Revival and Renaissance Revival, of which this is a great example. Made of oak, it's both handsome and functional, though this style is not currently in fashion and its size may be a deterrent to collectors. It was made to stand in a dining room, housing sets of fine china or silverware for a table.

Other related examples that have sold at auction have realized the fair market (akin to wholesale) price of between $500 and $700 (note that retailers may be asking more for examples they have they are selling.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
