This is an antique, late 19th century, about 1875 - 1885, Victorian era, barrel roll or cylinder front desk with burled wood veneer fronts. Originally, this would have come with a second secretary book case piece that would set atop the desk. The Victorian furniture market is currently slumped. Pieces, even the original period pieces, do not sell for what they used to sell for a few decades ago. The market was further impacted by the Recession.
