Exhibition poster size is 63/83 Printed on a very quality paper. designed by Lichtenstein for Pasedena Art Museum from around 1967. We bought it from Rare posters gallery located in NY if Iam not mistaken. The poster is original 100%. It is signed by lichtenstein on the botom right.
I think it was the gallery property, Don't know who owned it before.
Hello Rotem,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be a color lithograph by Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923 - 1997) titled "Against Apartheid." The print was published in 1983 by Galerie Maeght-Lelong, Paris, for the benefit of Artists of the World Against Apartheid, in cooperation with the United Nations Committee Against Apartheid. The print was published in an edition of 100 and are suppose to be signed and numbered to the margin. While, I so see a signed on the print presented, I do not see an edition. There is another edition of the print that were not signed or numbered, which was published in an edition of 5,000. Further in-person examination or authentication may be needed.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this print, signed and numbered of the edition of 100. If the print is determined to be one of the prints from the 5,000 edition the fair market value estimate would decrease. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report and its authenticity. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
hi there
I could find many prints of the 5000 editions, that were signed and not numbered.
I don't think it's from the 100 edition, as you seen it's not numbered, but the signature is 100% same as other known signatures and there are many of the 5000 editions on record sales that were signed and gain around 800$ more or less.
thank you
