This Royal Doulton item is a sandwich plate. It is a 'series ware' piece, specifically from a line entitled "Old Moreton 1589" which commemorates a visit by Queen Elizabeth I to Moreton Hall in 1589. The line was issued in 1915 and retired out of production in 1933. The D5490 refers to the mold form shape. The 7781 is the transferprinted and hand color embellished design depicting a court procession into Moreton Hall led by Queen Elizabeth.
