9x12 rug... I wish I knew more about the rug but I don’t have any info other than it was put in storage during the 70’s

Is the black part integral to the design or is the colorful part of the rug laid on top of a larger dark piece? It almost looks like it was cut-out and sewn onto a dark backing.

Densely patterned foliage on a salmon ground in a lobed cartouche with patterned surround, on a black border.

I believe the the color part it integral with the black... I will add an image of the back of the rug if that helps.
