Dear Mark,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The apprised object is a cloisonne box probably made out of gilded silver. This kovsh has the shape of a duck and is stamped on his bottom. The hallmarks appear to be the Russian silver guarantee stamp for 875 silver and this piece assayed by Mikhail Pereselgin of Vilnius. The measurements are approx. 2" high, 3" long, 2 "wide and weight is approximately 172 grams. Additionally, we see a label of the German auction house Hargesheimer which is specialized in Russian art.
There are especially for Russian silver very well made forgeries on the market. This piece is in very good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 1000 to 1500 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
