This oil painting on canvas appears to be by the 19th-century British artist called S. A. Galton. This is a view of Hastings, with lifeboats and figures on the beach. It is signed and dated "S. A. Galton, 95" (lower left) and inscribed "Hastings, S.A. Galton" on the stretcher. The dimensions with frame are 25 1/2 x 35 1/4 inches. There are some craquelure and small patches visible throughout the painting.
