Hi Arpi,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

Saint Seraphim of Sarov (1754–1833) is one of the most beloved saints of the Russian Orthodox Church and one of the most widely venerated mystics in Eastern Christianity. Born Prokhor Moshnin in Kursk, Russia, from a young age, he was inclined toward prayer and religious devotion. At age 19, he entered the Sarov Monastery and was later tonsured as a monk, taking the name Seraphim (“fiery” or “burning” in Hebrew/Greek).

Saint Seraphim is often depicted as a gentle, humble elder with a long white beard, dressed in monastic robes. He is considered a model of Russian spirituality, emphasizing inner peace, joy, and divine union. His teaching “Acquire peace, and thousands around you will be saved” is one of the most quoted sayings in Orthodoxy.

Icons of Saint Seraphim of Sarov are fairly common, especially within the Russian Orthodox Church and among Orthodox faithful worldwide. This dates to the 19th Century and has a fair-market value of $250-350.
