I believe colt, made it
Dear Duane,
Thank you for your help and patience. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.
The presented object appears to be a short-barreled Colt 1851 Navy percussion lock revolver. It appears to have the serial number 1 which would make this piece very valuable. some parts of this pistol appear to be new or overworked. For example, the pistol grip and the cylinder have two traces of usage and a nearly perfect surface. This indicates that this revolver is probably a marriage of newer and older parts.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation for a serial number 1 Colt revolver would be between 6.000 to 12.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Gregory
