Thank you for contacting Mearto. These are a pair of Japanese katanas with sheaths, probably made for export. The etched characters read:
石 stone
川 river
松 pine
井well
二 two
These characters are not related to a specific craftsman. I was able to find the same string of characters on two other swords, that I will put a link to below. Both are being sold as new.
The brass koi motifs decorating one sheath represent perseverance. The other sheath bears a cow, representing healing.
Katana blades are made using a folded steel process, which makes them valuable to buyers.
Based on sales of similar items, the Fair Market Value of this pair of swords is between $200 and $300.
