The appraised work appears to be an etching and aquatint executed by Spanish artist Joan Miró (1893-1983) in 1965, titled “Sans le Soleil III.” The image features and abstract composition consisting of fluid black forms and lines arranged in a vertical configuration. This print is typical of Miró’s oeuvre, which constantly evolved, but tended to routinely feature biomorphic forms, geometric shapes and abstract elements. This particular series was inspired by the writings of Heraclitus, a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher. The estimate provided is based on comparable recently offered and sold at auction. The appraised work's size, composition, medium and condition (based on images provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
