Passed on from grand parents
This is a late 19th century to early 20th century unsigned classical female figure with a horn instrument that is done in molded spelter or pot metal with a bronzed, or bronze colored surface. There is an affixed label with the name Thalia on it; in Classical Greek mythology Thalia is one of the Muses of the Arts and she is to represent Comedy. The objects which represent her are usually an ivy wreath, comic mask, and/or shepherd's crook. Your figural has a horn instrument. One of the Arts Muses is Euterpe and she represents music, song and lyric poetry. Euterpe is usually depicted with an Aulos, or flute-like instrument, or panpipes and a laurel wreath. It is more likely that this is a figure of Euterpe and not Thalia. It is not uncommon for identification tags to be mislabeled. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
I can't find anything other than this mark on the bottom of her foot..Don't know if it's a mark of someone or just a discrepancy..
Thank you for checking
Please check around the base, near her feet to see if there is a cast signature of the artist who modelled this on this.
