Hi there! We acquired several 18th century ivory scrimshaw pieces from a gentleman who passed away. He was an avid collector of civil and revolutionary war memorabilia. The etchings consist of ships, whales, mermaids, and others. I've attached just one if that is all I can use for a quote. I'm happy to send photo's of the rest. ~Judy

Hi Judy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Yes, I'll need to see photos of the other pieces; if you make the new appraisal inquiries, please put my name in the title (Scrimshaw - for Delia) so they all go to me. This particular one has War of 1812 iconography which you can read about here: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capture_of_HMS_Epervier)
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A War of 1812 scrimshaw whales tooth
American, early 19th Century
On one side depicts Master Commandant Lewis Warrington, on the other side the battle in which the USS Peacock captured the HMS Epervier, with some
