Cat with Kitten woodblock framed print . The print was framed at the time of purchase by the seller in Japan. Print was purchased in 1964 when stationed in Toyko Japan with the US Army Nurse Corps. I can send pictures but since the print is framed and it is the original frame and backing I am hesitant to open the back to get pictures of the back of the print.

Hello, this item is a woodblock print by Sekino Jun’ichirō (1914–1988), one of the key figures of Japan’s sōsaku hanga (creative prints) movement. The subject “Cat with Kitten” is typical of Sekino’s lyrical and intimate imagery. The client states the print was purchased in Tokyo in 1964, while stationed there with the US Army Nurse Corps, and has remained in its original frame since then. The condition appears stable, with minor toning consistent with age. Dimensions: 10 ¾ x 7 inches (print), 18 ½ x 13 ¾ inches (framed).
Sekino’s prints from the 1960s are sought after internationally, particularly those with animal or portrait themes. His works are in collections such as the Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the British Museum. Recent auction results for similar mid-sized prints by Sekino range between 400 and 900 USD, depending on rarity, condition, and subject matter. Given the subject and provenance, this framed woodblock print would be valued today in the range of 600–800 USD on the international art market.
