The width is 17 1/2 inches and the length is 23 1/2. Wood frame. Not sure what the material is that the picture is on?
Somebody was throwing it away at a job I was doing in eastern North Carolina.
Dear Maryanne,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The appraised items is a lithograph by the Italian artist Marino Marini (1901-1980), issued in 1949 (or 1944?) by Catalda Fine Arts, New York. The print number - as stated on the label on the reverse of the work- is 5754. It measures 171/2 x 23 1/2 inches. It is signed (in plate) on lower right, framed and glazed.
Marino Marini is best known for his figurative equestrian sculptures, but has also done similar works such as this one during his career.
The Marino Marini Museum, in Florence in Italy opened few years after his death to celebrate his entire oeuvre.
The estimate highlighted in red is based on the subject, work size, composition, condition, as well as the artist's current market.
Please note that in many cases, pricing for similar items available on the primary (retail) market varies and is often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
Best regards,
Karine
