Signed White Porcelain and Gilt Hand Painted Table Lamp
This is a large porcelain lamp with leaves painted on the face and a signature. It has a porcelain base and wonderful gilt trim that is wearing in some sections. This lamp is older with a plug that could be mid-century or earlier. It presents incredibly well with an added white shade. It measures 33 inches tall from base to final and 5 inches by 5 inches wide. The lamp's harp is old and unattractive with deep oxidation, but could be replaced. The signature is a little difficult because it appears to be written with a brush.

Every now and then, I see hand painted lamps that are reminiscent of this one, but they do not come over as well aesthetically. Just nont as attractive. They often have a signature, too. But I have never seen the facets on procelain, just on brass, nor have I seen this type of porcelain base in my collecting. The ones I have seen fall short of this presentation. And yes, it has a felt bottom to answer your question. They seem like they "belong together," but maybe some clever person decided to convert the base to accompany the vase. The cords looks older. Wish I could read that signature. :)
