8.5x11 inches. I believe made of silk.
Purchased from estate sale.
Thank you for contacting Mearto. These are two small Chinese ink paintings on silk. It’s unusual to see Chinese ink paintings that are so small and with these dimensions. From what I can tell from the photographs they appear to be original paintings, and not printed reproductions.
The painter has depicted traditional Chinese subjects. In one, a scholar contemplates a natural scene of mountains and coniferous trees. In the other, two figures travel in a boat close to the shore.
The red seal marks are unreadable unfortunately. They most likely tell the date of the work or the seal of the artist. Seals like these are often hard to read because they are blurry and are formed of archaic Chinese characters.
These paintings were probably made in the first half of the 20th century. The Fair Market Value for the pair is between $100 and $150. If they are prints rather than original paintings, their value would be slightly less, between $80 and $120.
