Silver & Jade Buddhist amulet, most likely of Chinese origin.
13 February 2024
Description

I procured this piece from an estate sale along with a collection of other antique Buddhist ritual implements and the like. Mostly Tibetan. Among many pieces, I find this the most striking. I haven't had it formally appraised but I asked a Tibetan Rinpoche I know who has great knowledge about Buddhist artifacts and he told me it was Chinese. I don't know who made it, its in excellent condition other than being a little dirty. I haven't given it a clean because I'm not sure if should. The silver metalwork is fabulously ornate and appears to be handmade(aside from the fish part on the top) and custom made to fit the jade amulet. The jade piece itself has a hole drilled in the top, I'm guessing where a necklace would fit prior to fitting it into silver.
