Got 2 singer sewing machines like to know how much tgry are worth
Hi David
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
According to the serial numbers AL265908 (freestanding) and this website (https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-g-series-serial-numbers.html), this machine was made in December, 1952.
The same website does not identify dates for machines without letter prefix numbers but based on the style of the table and the fact that it's electrified, my guess is its from the 1930s or 1940s.
So few people use sewing machines these days that the market is somewhat flooded by them. With considerably less demand than supply, prices remain modest with most models by Singer - the gold-standard in sewing machines - bringing less than $200. Ones that are not built into tables and retain their original domed cases are worth a little more: $300-400 (mostly because the table-mounted ones take up a lot of space).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Two gilt stencil and ebonized electric Singer sewing machines
One mounted to a table, circa 1930s-40s, serial number 7847850 ($150-250)
A free-standing example, serial number AL265908, made in December, 1952 (200-300)
CONDITION: Both sewing machines appears to be in generally good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$350-550 for the two *
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
