Hello,
This is a rectangular Chinese low table, possibly a kang table, traditionally used in domestic interiors on raised heated platforms. Acquired between 1904–1920, this piece features pierced apron carvings in an interlocking key-fret or “leiwen” design—a decorative motif deeply rooted in Chinese symbolism, often representing continuity and protection.
The form, size, and carving style suggest it dates to the late Qing dynasty or very early Republic period, when traditional craftsmanship persisted despite increased Western influence. The presence of Chinese characters on the underside (not visible in detail here) may indicate workshop markings or a dedication, which would benefit from further translation to clarify regional attribution.
