Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a lovely antique silver snuff box. Such antique objects of vertu are being offered at auction on a regular basis. The snuff box or tabatiere is very charming, the design and shape is typical of this kind of silver objects from the last part of the 19th century. The tabatiere was made by Karl Kurz, Hanau in 1877, the partly gilted silver box is set with mother of pearl, garnets and amethyst. The decoration is a lovely rose pattern. The condition of the small box appears to be good based on the photos.
I believe that this charming box would attract the attention of both collectors and dealers if it came up for auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online objects of vertu auction, where I believe the silver box has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the snuff box. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
