The canvas was gifted to me when I was a little girl by a prominent lawyer in the Bay Area, California. He was given the painting by a commissioned Disney artist. It was just a canvas when we got it. We mounted it in order to hang it in our house. We were told that the art was commissioned to be a movie advertisement at a theater for Steamboat Willy. We were also told that there’s no signature on the art because it was commissioned by Disney.

Hi Nicole,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Steamboat Willie is a landmark animated short film released by Walt Disney Studios on November 18, 1928. It is historically significant as the first Disney cartoon to feature synchronized sound, marking the debut of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their iconic forms.
Disney licensed other similar versions for "Band Concert," "Meet the World," "Polo Team Mickey," and "Alpine Climbers," among others. Walt Disney World in Tokyo has the complete set, which you can see here: https://meettheworldinprogressland.blogspot.com/2009/03/?m=1.
It's fair to assume that this was produced in some limited quantity, as were the others; while I've not found another "Steamboat Willie" painting to have been auctioned, others from this series typically sell for between $300-600 when offered at recent auctions.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Walt Disney "Steamboat Willlie" painting

CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition; value assumes no repairs, tears or reframing.
