Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a cute teddy bear. Such vintage soft toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
Steiff was one of the most popular soft toys makers in the late 1800s and early 1900s and their toys, especially teddy bears, are very sought after by both collectors and dealers today. Your teddy bear appears to have a very nice and wellkept mohair fur and it also appears to be in good condition with only minor signs of wear and use. The old bears had a visible hump on the back however the later ones did not have this characteristic hump. I would judge your teddy bear to have been made around the 1960s-1970s when this particular style of teddy bear was in fashion. The bright yellow tag was also used at this time.
I believe that your teddybear would attract the attention of both collectors and dealers if it came up for auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online vintage toys auction, where I believe the Steiff teddy has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the teddybear. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
