7 1/8" long dinner fork
This fork is one of nine I inherited from my aunt (born in 1926) who I'm sure inherited it herself. I have no other matching pieces.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry and thank you for the additional photos and information.
It is a beautiful fork. Such vintage and antique flatware are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The design and decoration of the fork is lovely and very detailed. The mark Sterling indicates that the silver quality is high 925/1000. And the use of Sterling marks began in the early 1900s. As for the maker it is difficult to say who and where it was made without any makersmarks on the flatware. The price for silver and sterling flatware is higher when there are an equal number of forks, knives and spoons.
If you would like to polish the forks I suggest using a very soft and well used old toothbrush to clean the decoration where there may be old polish stored.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online silver auction, where I believe the 9 sterlingsilver forks has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the lovely forks. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
