What does this mean?

Dear Daniel,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be a sword that was made as a sign of rank and not as a weapon. The sword has a straight, not sharp blade and a decorated handle. Such weapons were used in civil organizations like firefighters or private organizations like freemasonry. This piece was made in the second half of the 19th century probably in the USA. Sadly no stamp or hallmark is visible to identify the maker.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 100 to 250 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg

This is about all I can photograph of the sword. Except for the knights head on the handle and the acorn on the tip of the sheath there are no markings of any kind on the blade or the sheath except for the brass on the handle and on the end of the sheath and you can see those in the pics I've taken. There's really nothing else to say about it.
